The Semiotic Study of Elements of Islamic Architecture

Islamic architecture is influenced by religious beliefs. The style of Islamic architecture incorporates elements from both secular and sacred art, filled with symbols and their interpretations. This research explores the various manifestations of Islamic architecture and provides a thorough examination of its symbolic components. It highlights the essence and diversity of Islamic architecture, focusing on its unique and defining characteristics. The study aims to investigate different types of Islamic architectural features and perform a semiotic analysis of the signs and symbols present in Islamic architecture. The research clarifies the significance and scope of Islamic architecture. A semiotic approach has been utilized to assess the symbolic meanings and attributes of structures associated with Islamic architecture. The results indicate that calligraphy, geometry, and floral motifs are among the most common forms of decoration. Moreover, the study demonstrates that Islamic architecture merges both secular and sacred artistic expressions and has significantly influenced the design, construction, and adornment of buildings across various cultures throughout history and into modern times.
